Men’s basketball suffered back to back conference losses this past week.  Haverford and Dickinson managed to get the best of the Shoremen dropping their record to 13-8 for the year.  Haverford was red hot on offense last Wednesday, and Washington Collegestruggled to keep up the pace.  The final score was 88-75.  The Fords shot a stellar 60% from the field, getting 30 points from their star Bret Cohen.  Kevin Cunningham led the Shoremen in scoring with a career-high 18 points.

The first half was back and forth, but Haverford finished with a 10-0 run to go into the break with a 49-44 lead.  WC briefly tied the game in the second half, but Haverford responded and took back the lead.  WC once again clawed back, and even took the lead on a Max Finch lay-up.  The Fords simply had too much for the Shoremen and once again broke away, this time for good.  Haverford built an 81-70 lead and never led by less than eight for the rest of the game.

Washington could not recover with a win against Dickinson Saturday the fourth.  After falling down 35-35 in the first half against the Red Devils, WC put together a 22-8 run to tighten the game.  The lead was slimmed to 47-43 by a Kevin Cunningham three, and after a brief run by Dickinson, the Shoremen got hot.

The team scored seven unanswered points, taking a 52-51 lead on a Sal Schittino three-pointer.  The game was neck and neck the rest of way, each team trading punches.  The Red Devils simply hit a few more shots and with 22 seconds left they led 76-74.  After a missed shot, and fouls, the final lead was 78-74 in favor of Dickinson.

Kevin Breslin led the Shoremen in scoring with 22, and Adam Naymick pulled in six boards to lead the team.  It was a close game and a heart-breaker but the Shoremen played well against a team that bested them 76-41 earlier in the year.

The WC men’s basketball team returns for its next home game Feb 15 against Ursinus in a conference game.  Come show your support for the squad.
