In the summer everyone’s skin looks fresh and healthy. Why not keep that glow throughout the whole year? Face masks are fantastic ways to relax and retain clear skin. You don’t have to go to a fancy spa or buy expensive products to get these results. A quick trip to the refrigerator or market is all you need.
I personally tested three face masks, which were made with ingredients found in any kitchen. These trials were done over a two week time period, because over stimulation of the skin can be counterproductive and dry it out. The following masks use no more than two ingredients and require very little preparation.
Mask 1: Pore Minimization
All you need is 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of honey. Once the ingredients were obtained, I mixed these in a small glass bowl. A mug or drinking glass would work nicely as well. Although the mixture was thinly applied I felt immediate results as my skin tightened. After ten minutes, I removed my mask.
This type of mask is especially effective in preventing acne, minimizing pore size, and repairing skin damage.
Mask 2: Sun Damage and Hydration
I used an entire banana and avocado and used a fork to mash them together in a small bowl until they were completely combined. Although it’s optional, I left the mixture in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. It was slightly chunky and incredibly different from the pore minimization mask I had previously tried. Ten minutes passed before I removed the mask and I delighted to find my skin glowing and completely smooth. The active ingredient in this mask is the avocado. Avocado is great for cleaning, smoothing, and moisturizing skin. Bananas contain Vitamin E which is effective in preventing and treating sun damaged skin. This mask is entirely appropriate for the end of the summer without sacrificing the tan you worked so hard for.
Mask 3: Oily Skin
This mask is fruity and fun. All you’ll need is ¼ cup of mashed strawberries and 1 tablespoon of honey. Once again, I mixed these in a small bowl using a fork. It’s important that the mixture is slightly chunky so that it stays on your face for the 10-minute duration. Besides loving the smell of it, I noticed the calming effect it had. Salicylic acid is abundant in strawberries which and is an active ingredient in most acne prevention creams. Honey acts as an anti-bacterial and natural oil lifter for skin, which further enforces the prevention against acne.
Don’t hesitate to flaunt your fresh skin in any season with these super easy and convenient face masks. Do them with a friend or while you’re studying for an exam. The important thing is to relax and let the mask do the work.
