Lady Gaga blew everyone away with her stunning tribute to “The Sound of Music” at the Oscars. When you look past her meat dress or Kermit the Frog outfit, you find Lady Gaga standing on the Oscars’ stage in a sparkling white gown, belting out the best of the award-winning classic.
People were surprised at how strong Lady Gaga was voclly because pop culture has a reputation of theatrics and auto-tune more than talent. However, Lady Gaga is on her way to shattering that stereotype with chart-topping hits like “Cheek to Cheek” with Tony Bennett, bringing the beauty of jazz music to the younger, more pop-inclined generation.
According to USA Today, Lady Gaga sent out a Tweet saying she trained for two months for that performance with her vocal coach Don Lawrence. That just shows how committed she is to performance art and this particular tribute. USA Today also reported that Julie Andrews gave her stamp of approval to the wonderful performance, along with the millions who watched it. Although, the Internet exploded with shock at how far Lady Gaga has come in her career to be trusted to perform a tribute to such a prestigious musical, we shouldn’t be too taken aback.
BuzzFeed reports that Lady Gaga was accepted to The Julliard School at the age of 11 and attended classes at NYU’s Tisch School of Arts . This woman breathes skill and ability. Lady Gaga embodies pop culture, with never-before-seen outfits, jaw-dropping performances, and fresh music.
