Toning up has never been this easy thanks to YouTube sensation “Blogilates.” Featuring an endless pool of quick and easy fitness clips, you won’t even have to leave your room to break a sweat.
With over 100 million views, the channel by Cassey Ho, a social media fitness entrepreneur, is definitely something to look out for. Ho, a 28-year-old California native comes close to a human encyclopedia on all things fitness. While working as a professional Pilates instructor since 2009, she has an impressive 10 years of experience doing Pilates as a personal hobby. As a certified fitness trainer and obvious Pilates enthusiast, Ho brings an exciting mix of quick-burst bodyweight exercises, challenging HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) sessions, and relaxing yoga moves to the table. Get your quick burst in the comfort of your dorm room, the park, the gym, or wherever you feel like, because most videos require virtually no extra equipment like dumbbells or stability balls. All you need is a laptop or smartphone, comfy clothing, and an optional yoga mat.
Blogilates delivers an easy virtual personal training session suitable for any level of fitness mobility and endurance. While her programs are super easy to learn, Ho makes a point to thoroughly explain and demonstrate each and every exercise for the convenience of her viewers. This makes training with her extremely safe and annihilates the potential for injury, as she demonstrates common mistakes. Ho also emphasizes the importance of listening to your body and only going as far as your physical abilities allow. She stresses that if a certain move does not feel right for you, it is best to simply skip it and move on to the next exercise.
In addition to Blogilates, Ho also features a YouTube channel that is dedicated to healthy eating. In her series “Cheap, Clean Eats,” Ho demonstrates how, with just a few smart adaptations, you can turn your favorite junk-food staple like pizza or ice cream into low-calorie and cheap super foods. Like Tex-Mex food? Check out her amazing “Lean and Clean Quesadilla,” or take your taste buds on a trip to France with her delicious “Banana Berry Crepes.” The best part is that all her meals are affordable for college students on a budget.
While she advocates for a healthy living style, she is also actively involved in promoting mental health and body positivity. After being publicly shamed for not being “thin enough,” she posted a response video, criticizing society’s unrealistic standards of beauty, which went viral in April 2015. In the video, titled “The ‘Perfect’ Body,” Ho undergoes a Photoshop-style transformation into what her critics seem to think she should look like, conveying the ridiculousness of society’s obsession with unobtainable body goals. The online community praised her for this courageous response to being body shamed, and she received overwhelmingly positive feedback from her followers.
Outside of her impressive career as a rising YouTube superstar, Ho also runs an up-and-coming fashion business. At www.ogorgeous.com you can shop for her stylish athletic apparel, fitness equipment, meal plans, and her workout DVD series “POPilates.”
