On April 13, Washington College’s Best Buddies Club will be hosting its showcase in the Goose Nest from 7 to 9 p.m..
According to their website, Best Buddies is an international and nonprofit organization that is dedicated to establishing a movement around the world to create one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
The goal of the organization is to end social, physical, and economic isolation of all people with IDD. By doing so, the organization helps people with IDD form meaningful friendships with their acquaintances, get successful jobs, live independently, improve their communications, and feel valued by society.
The showcase will not only present Buddy performances, but also performances by WACapella, and freshmen Kimberly Parr, Sydney Armitage, and Lauren Laque.
The showcase is sponsored by Cafe Sado, Dunkin Donuts, the Health and Wellness Center, and the College Bookstore. Sponsors have donated prizes for first, second, and third place as well as a prize for an audience member.
Tickets are available online for $5 at www.eventbrite.com/e/best-buddies-showcase-tickets-29836381420?aff=ehomecard as well as at the door.
