This week, meet Cookie. Cookie is a one-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix who is currently available for adoption at the Humane Society of Kent County. Cookie has caramel and white fur, and her fur color splits right down the middle of her face.

Cookie has not been at the Humane Society for long, but she has already proven to the staff that she is just as sweet as her name implies.

“She was surrendered to us by her previous owner,” Lead Animal Care Technician Rodney Freeman said. “I think she was kept mainly as an outdoor dog, so she really loves playing outside.”

Cookie is active, but she also likes to settle down and cuddle. The staff is hoping that Cookie can find a home that will allow her to do both.

Potential owners should know that, because Cookie has not been socialized with other dogs, she would prefer to be the only canine in the household.

“Unfortunately, in her previous home Cookie wasn’t really introduced to other dogs,” Freeman said. “She doesn’t really get along with other dogs and she probably would do best in a house with no cats, but she absolutely loves kids. She’s so good with kids.”

Cookie may get along with kids so well because she is one at heart.

“She’s only one, so she still has some of that puppy personality, but she behaves really well,” Freeman said.

“She’s really sweet. Cookie loves to play. She likes to go in the big yard and do zoomies,” he said. “She’s also been really well-liked by the students from Washington College who come to the shelter to help socialize the animals,” he said.

If anyone in the Chestertown community, WC faculty and staff members, or even students with families are interested in rescuing sweet Cookie, please contact the Humane Society of Kent County at 410-778-3648 or by emailing info@kenthumane.org.
