In this past weekend for Washington College softball, the Shorewomen travelled to Salisbury to play in a tournament on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3. The tournament was hosted by Salisbury University. 

On Saturday, the first game was against the Sea Gulls. The second game was against Clarkson University. So far, the spring sports have not had weather in their favor, but the weather remained clear enough for the games could go on as planned. 

In the first game against Salisbury, the Shorewomen lost 13-1. The Shorewomen lost a close game 2-1 against Clarkson. 

The first game started out with an even at 0-0 in the first inning. The game ended in six innings as the eight-run rule would go into effect during the game. 

At the start of the second inning, Salisbury started earning runs. Scoring three runs in the second inning, one run in the third, three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and, lastly, scored five runs in the sixth to end the first game. 

In the second game against Clarkson, not a single run was scored until the third inning by the Shorewomen. After the Shorewomen marked the board, Clarkson would come back and score two in the fourth inning to put the game away. 

On Sunday, the Shorewomen came back to compete against both schools. The first game was against Clarkson. At the end of the first inning, Clarkson led 7-1. In this game, Clarkson would go on to win 8-2. 

The second game was a rematch against Salisbury. At the end of the first inning, the Shorewomen opened the game leading 1-0. At the end of the third inning Shorewomen added two more homers to make it 3-0. However, by the sixth inning Salisbury scored six homers. In the seventh and final inning, the Shorewomen scored three homers and unluckily get edged out and lose 7-6.     

The softball team will travel to Florida over spring break to compete in their annual week-long tournament of jam-packed games. The baseball team will also be attending.
