POTWIn modern society, we are often warned about the dangers of unfamiliar people, with good reason. But sometimes it can restore one’s faith in the world to connect with strangers, and Moore, this week’s Pet of the Week, is a big believer in the power of free hugs.

Moore is a delightful two-year-old tabby who brings the definition of chill back to the Animal Care Shelter for Kent County. This sweet girl is quiet, but absolutely loves attention. Come up to her kennel gate and she’ll pace and mew excitedly, and scratches behind the ear will inevitably result in a happy flip-over.

Her dark streaks and stripes flare into subtle brindle on her ankles. In the tiny tufts of black fur on the tips of her ears, and the rippling yellow-green of her eyes, one could find echoes of her wilder cousins–a cougar creeping on a mountainside, a bobcat stalking through snowy forest. But here, Moore is all soft purrs and sighs. She is endlessly content to perch on the edge of her kennel and gaze out over the other cats as they play with visitors.

Moore has been chilling in the cat room of ASCKC for several months now, after her last owner surrendered her. Her perfect home would give her the respectful space to be herself, but also offer endless love, affection and neck scratches when she’s in the mood.

She would thrive in any setting as relaxed as she is, including with easy-going cats, dogs, and kids.

Moore is more than ready to find her forever home. This laid-back lady would brighten any space with her calm love, and can’t wait to bring her gentle affection to a permanent patch of sunlight and a family who cherishes her trust.
