The IM Men's Basketball season is in full swing. Currently, the league is close, with two teams in a tie for first place. The top four teams will make the playoffs.
Last semester's Defending Champions, Theta Chi, suffered their first loss of this semester to D.V.D.A., 72-66. D.V.D.A. was paced by a barrage of 3-pointers. At one point they connected on 7 consecutive trips down the floor.
The Ballers took advantage of solid rebounding and steady scoring to roll past the Haz Beenz, 62-43. The Haz Beenz got down early and were never really able to cut into the lead significantly.
Games are played in Cain Gymnasium at 9, 10, and 11 p.m., Sunday through Thursday.
"I am extremely happy with how the IM Program has turned out here at Washington College," said Ravens team captain Mike Coppola. "Last year's program was alright, but Andy Wisk is really doing a great job."
Phi Delta Theta team member John "Quaz" Leekley added, "Playing IM basketball is fun."
This is Wisk's first year at Washington College. His sudden impact on the intramural sports department has been greatly appreciated by many.
Fall IM Football participant Kurt Wallace said, "The IM Football league last fall was run efficiently. We all got to play some football, it was rather competitive, and we all enjoyed ourselves.
As for Wisk's current task, he decided to form an all-women's volleyball league.
The IM women's volleyball league started last Sunday. There are five teams signed up and in the first night of action the Haz Beenz defeated team Coulson (15-4, 15-2) while the Nasty Girls outlasted the Rotators (15-8, 15-8).
Matches are played in the back gym of Cain, simultaneous to men's basketball games.
