Men's Tennis
The Washington College men's tennis team improved their record to 2-0 as they rolled over Central Connecticut College. The Shoremen won all six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.
Senior Jose Lejarraga took the lead as he won the first singles match, 6-1, 6-2. Seth Morgan cruised to victory at the second singles spot, winning 6-0, 6-0. At third singles, Bart Prytula earned a 6-2, 6-3 win.
The Shoremen will host Carnegie Mellon Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Averett CollegeSunday at 11 a.m.
Sailing
The Washington College women's sailing team placed 5th in a field of 14 schools at the Charleston Women's Spring Intersectional. The #14 Shorewomen edged out 10th-ranked Georgetown in the final races to hold on to 5th place by one point.
The team was led by seniors Kate Sheahan and crew Jessica Koenig who placed 4th in A division. In B division, sophomore Meg Nichols and senior crew Lellie Fluke finished in 6th place.
Old Dominion University (#5) won the regatta, followed by Boston University, Stanford University (#7), Brown University (#8), and Washington College.
The women also defeated U.C. Santa Barbara (#11) and host College of Charleston who finished 11th and 7th, respectively.Women's Tennis
The Washington College women's tennis team defeated Goucher College for their first win of the year February 8. The Shorewomen won all three doubles matches as well.
Neiko Browder cruised to a 8-1 win at the first singles spot. Shoko Nakamura won the second singles match 6-2, 6-0. At third singles, Linda Hooks earned a 6-2, 6-4 win.
The Shorewomen are not in action until March 2 when they travel to Salisbury State for a non-conference match-up with the Sea Gulls.
