The Shorewomen ended their season last week with games against Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Western Maryland.
First up was the Fords of Haverford. Leading the entire game, the Shorewomen won 59-47.
Senior Katie Bierzonski led the team with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Freshman Meghan Hartzell also scored 13 points and grabbed 5 boards. Junior Allyson Britton ended the game with 11 points and seven rebounds.Last Thursday the Shorewomen traveled to Bryn Mawr College and returned home with another win. Britton and freshman Karen Simos led the team with 13 points apiece, and Bierzonski chipped in with a game high 15 rebounds.
The Shorewomen picked up the win 53-29.Washington ended the season with a third consecutive win against Western Maryland College last Saturday in a triple overtime game. The Shorewomen victory knocked the Green Terror out of the running for a playoff berth.
The last home game of the season was an exciting nail biter for both teams. Throughout the entire game, the lead changed 33 times, not to mention the 14 times the score was tied. In the second half, the Green Terror pulled ahead by as mush as 11 points.
Near the end of regulation, Simos hid a jumper that cut the lead to three points. Then, in her final game, Bierzonski tied the game, 66-66, with only fifty-seven ticks on the clock.
In the first overtime, Western Maryland was up by three points until freshman Katie Piringer scored a three pointer with one minute and 20 seconds left to tie the game at 77. The Green Terror jumped ahead by two more points with 47 seconds left to play.
In the second overtime, Washington was in the lead by as many as six points, but the Green Terror would not let up. Western Maryland's Camey Brian tied the game at 92 for her team with a lay-up that forced the game into triple overtime.
Like the last overtime period, the Shorewomen jumped out to an early lead, this time by three. Senior captain Kerry Lomax nailed a three-pointer with only one minute remaining to give Washington a six point lead.
Western Maryland was never able to come back from that point on, and the Shorewomen outlasted the Green Terror 101-98.
Britton led the team with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Piringer tossed in 24 points. Bierzonski scored 17 and grabbed 11 rebounds. Lomax grabbed six rebounds and dished out a game high nine assists.
The Shorewomen ended the season with a game that goes down in Washington history as the most points scored in a game.
Their record is 12-12 overall and 7-8 in the Centennial Conference.
