Crew
Washington College (40 points) downed Mary Washington College (33 points) Saturday, April 14, on the Chester River. The Shoremen and Shorewomen won six of eight events.
Those events won by Washington were: Men's pair, Men's Varsity Four, Men's Frosh/Novice Four, Women's Varsity Four, Women's Frosh/Novice Four, and the Women's Varsity Eight. Washington also took second in the Men's Single, and Women's Frosh/Novice Eight.
In the women's eight, Washington College won by 4.8 seconds. The Shorewomen are currently ranked 15 in the country, and first in the NCAA poll of the region.
The men's novice four pulled an incredible come from behind victory in the last 20 strokes of the race to beat the Eagles by 6 seconds, and row the course in under 7 minutes. This was an awesome accomplishment for a boat with their experience.
This weekend, the women's team travels to Tennessee for SIRAs, where they will take on every team in their region, while the men will tackle their toughest opponents of the year in Philadelphia at the Murphy Cup.
