Letter to the Editor: Trinks expresses thanks for Chester Cemetery clean-up

Dear Editor:

On behalf of all those resting in peace at the Chester Cemetery, I would like to personally thank the Washington College Student Athlete Mentors for all of their hard work on Sunday, March 25. These students volunteered their time to prune trees and shrubs, pick up trash, as well as straighten and reset many large memorials.

With perseverance and guidance from Brian Matthews and Sue Brown from Washington College, community members, Tom Brown, Billy Wessel, Owen McCoy, and Mary Etta Russum; Chestertown Middle School students, Philip Trinks, and Brad Russum also did a fantastic job in volunteering their time to make Chester Cemetery a more peaceful place to visit.

In addition to thanking the above community members and students, I would also like to thank Kirby Memorials for donating their time and resetting materials and Gayle and Wayne Carrick for the use of their trailer. It was overwhelming to see the community, Washington College, our youth, and a local business come together for a common concern - restoring the beauty of Chester Cemetery.

Again, thank you all for a job well done. I look forward to working together again.

Patricia Brooks Trinks
