Men's lacrosse sweeps Swarthmore & E. Conn.

The Washington College men's lacrosse team had an amazing week as they won each of the games they played.

Aside from clinching a spot in the conference playoffs, the men came up big in home wins against #12 Eastern Connecticut State University and Swarthmore College.

With the victory, the Shoremen snapped a 19-game regular season winning streak for ECSU.

The Shoremen also downed Swarthmore, 19-9, on April 18. Eric Kuehn and Nick Nylund each scored four goals to lead the Shoremen victory.

The Shoremen dominated throughout the game. Freshman Randy Vane scored three goals while classmate Brent Renner scored two.

Ben Claire, Craig Rentch, and John Thomas each added one goal as well.

Rentch led the Shoremen assist attach with three.

Senior Dan Meehan and Claire each added two assists while senior Brad Hopkins, Nylund, Kuehn, Thomas, and freshman Chris Schaeff all added one assist each.

Washington out shot Swarthmore 41-33 and held a 50-34 advantage in groundballs.

In the net, John Chrismer made four saves and allowed only one goal while Jesse Markowitz made eight.

Washington then overcame the Warriors, 13-11, on Saturday, April 21.

Kuehn finished the game with three goals to lead Washington to victory.

Steve Berger, Craig Rentch, and Randy Vane scored two goals for Washington.

Dan Meehan added a goal and two assists. Freshman Topher Brewer also netted once for the Shoremen.

In goal, Chrismer made 12 saves while allowing 10 goals in 49 minutes of play. Markowitz sealed the victory by making one save and allowing just one goal in his 11 minutes of play.

The Shoremen outshot Eastern Conn. State 44-35. They also held a slight advantage in ground balls, 44-42.

Washington is ranked #16 in the USILA.STX Division III poll.

The Shoremen travel to Gettysburg Friday for the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament. Washington will take on the winner of the Western Maryland/Haverford game.
