WC STUDENTS CAN REVIEW WEB RESOURCE: Washington College has been invited to take part in the beta testing of a new version of ChoiceReviews.online, one that requires no login or password. Our library has subscribed to Choice Magazine and its reviews on cards for many years, and we brought up the original on-line incarnation about a year ago. Those of you who know Choice recognize it to be one of the most reliable review sources for academic books and electronic resources.

The librarians urge you to take advantage of this opportunity to influence the development of the on-line version. Give it a try from links in the on-line catalog (the first "Connect to another DATABASE" screen of http://library.washcoll.edu) or soon on the library web site (http://libraryweb.washcoll.edu). The original on-line version is also still available at the same two college sites. For the latter, the "name" is Miller and the password is 10305.

NEW PROGRAM UP FOR TESTING: The library has arranged for a 60 day demonstration of Early English Books Online from UMI/ProQuest. EEBO contains the digitized contents of the 125,000 titles represented in both Pollard & Redgrave's and Wing's Short Title Catalogs and in the Thomason Tracts. The Short Title Catalogs are exhaustive bibliographies of all books known to have been published in the English language in Britain and North America from 1465 through 1700.

A glance at EEBO's "Featured Content" shows the wide range of topics that you would expect, from anatomy through witchcraft. It could be of value in any number of academic disciplines. The database is searchable by author, title, printer, date of publication, kind of illustration and even Library of Congress subject headings.

The demonstration is currently accessible through the first screen of the "Connect to another DATABASE" option in the library's web catalog. Your comments and general feedback on this resource would be most welcome.
