Senior Social 2004: Not Your Average Bake Sale

By Peter Knox

Bake Sale? Candy Grams? The Class of 2005 Seniors are doing something different this year.

"We're taking members of the senior class [who are of age] to O'Connors, Andy's, and the Blue Bird," says Sara Wuillermin, the Senior Class President of the November 12 event.

Called the "Senior Social," Wuillermin hopes that this to be the most successful fundraiser yet. "We [the other class officers and I] are hoping for a large turnout because this is an event that appeals to a lot of people. It's a way for our class to come together and have a good time while also raising money for our class gift [which, although not official, will be a donation of resources to Miller Library]."

Tickets will be available outside the Dining Hall during lunch and dinner, and are on sale through next Friday, the day of the event. The cost is payable in cash, check, or Visa or Mastercard, except for the day of the event when they are only able to take cash or check.

The $25 ticket price includes everything a senior would need for a night on the town. Your ticket gets you a long sleeve class t-shirt, a senior social shot glass, free transportation on the Rock Hall Trolley to all three bars, free food at O'Connors, the cover charge at Andy's, and covers tips all night.

Wuillermin, Vice President Brian Norris, Secretary Amanda Barnes, and newly appointed Treasurer Tammi Porter have all been working hard to make this a successful fundraiser and social event.

Wuillermin comments, "We've talked to Peggy Fullton, Brian Matthews and Doctor Lou Stettler - all of whom have been very supportive." Porter insists that everyone able to attend should as "It'll be a good time to get to hang out and meet people you didn't even know were in your class!"

However, it has been stressed that only seniors over twenty-one years of age are allowed to participate; proper identification will not only be necessary to purchase a ticket, but is also needed to enter the bars.

Buy tickets outside the Dining Hall before the event begins on Friday November 12 at 7 p.m.
