Up until the 1970s, school textbooks in Britain exclaimed, "Women, know your limits." The rise of feminism brought an end to slogans such as this. Gone are the days of this phrase that means women should be chained to the stove.
Today, women assume previously male-dominated roles, such as managing director, CEO, or consultant.
However, I'd like to place a twenty-first century spin on limits for women. "Women know your limits" really means that college women today need to stand up and stop accepting half-hearted attempts from men! Know your limits-do not stoop so low!
I encourage those of the fairer sex to do the following: do not let a month pass by without the sight of roses, and do not let him in your bed without showering! Set the bar high, and settle for nothing less. I am amazed that in an age of such liberation, women are still satisfied with loveless relationships, penny pinching boyfriends, dull dates, and unfulfilling sex.
In 1985 Annie Lennox sang "Sisters are doing it for themselves." This feminist anthem proclaimed freedom for women and the end of traditional female roles.
There is no doubt that this song was a conscious liberation of the female state. It appears that students at Washington College are oblivious to Lennox's number one hit. I believe that the WC version would ring: "Sisters are settling for second rate."
In simple words, I would like to introduce a new term to the twenty-first century dating scene: STANDARDS. This craze seems to be exclusive to the WC community, while the rest of the world seems to be much more demanding of men.
So women, demand more, compromise less, and be liberated! After all, why travel coach class when you hold a first class ticket? Hold dear the words of the immortal Willie Nelson, "If you've got the money honey, I've got the time."
