The Washington College women's lacrosse team is looking forward to a promising season in 2006. Head Coach Suzie Friedrich is excited about the prospects. Her team boasts fourteen returning players and eight newcomers. Seniors Beppy Smith, Kelly Gallagher, and Erin Bollinger will provide much of the leadership for the team. Several underclassmen also have a good deal of experience and will have the opportunity to lead those new to the team.
This year's freshman class is "extremely talented" according to Coach Friedrich. Sally Mancini, who transferred in from the University of Maryland, and Suzie Jakub, are "exciting attackers who have no problem finding the back of the net." Brittany Lambert, Farin Teagarden, and Sarah Pearce are strong midfielders who will add a lot to the team.
The Shorewomen are looking forward to playing Gettysburg as well as Franklin & Marshall because their two assistant coaches Julika Blankenship and Julie Rice attended those colleges, respectively. They bring a great deal of insight and information that should help the Shorewomen in these Conference rivalries.
The Shorewomen start their season on the road at North Carolina Wesleyan on February 25. Their home opener is on March 2 at 4 p.m. against Marymount.
