The men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Carnegie Mellon to take on the Tartans last Saturday.
The Shorewomen fell to Carnegie Mellon by a score of 8-1. Carnegie Mellon is currently ranked 14th in Division III tennis and 4th in the Atlantic South Region. Washington is ranked 8th in the Atlantic South Region.
The Tartans took all three doubles matches to start the day. The lone victory for Washington came at No. 4 singles as freshman Lydia Bull won her contest.
The Shoremen played Carnegie Mellon extremely close and came away with a 4-3 victory over the Tartans. WC is currently ranked 20th in Division III and 9th in the Atlantic South Region. The victory knocked off Carnegie Mellon, ranked 5th in the region and was the 11th consecutive win for the Shoremen.
The Shoremen won all three doubles matches. Junior Arturo Solis and senior Tim Riskie, the 4th ranked doubles team in the region won at No. 1. At No. 2, seniors Mike Edison and Maciek Prytula won 8-5. And at No. 3 doubles, the freshman pairing of Anantha Bhaskar and Rafael Roldan won 8-2.
The Shoremen also won at No. 1 singles as Solis won 6-2, 6-2. WC won at No. 3 singles, with the victory by Bhaskar, and at No. 6 singles with the win by Roldan.
