Driving through town this past week I noticed a sign for Chestertown's Art in the Park held on Saturday, September 8th. In order to enjoy the beautiful weather on a lazy afternoon, I figured a walk around Fountain Park was the answer.
I grabbed a friend and an iced coffee and took off for downtown. The Chestertown Arts League sponsored numerous artists, jewelers, and musicians who came to display and sell their impressive goods.
In addition to the traditional paintings and wall art, there were vendors selling homemade soaps, home grown vegetables, and one of a kind jewelry. There was a local band playing for entertainment and plenty of activities to keep the little kids busy.
Chestertown isn't known for hustle and bustle, but just being out in town was a nice change of pace.
Although most of the goods were too expensive for a college student's budget, it was nice to mingle with the people of Chestertown and see the immense amount of creative energy.
Overall, Art in the Park was a nice way to spend some time off campus with friends and gave me a greater appreciation for our not-so-typical college town.
