This Week in SGA...

In the midst of papers and tests galore, the SGA met on Tuesday for a short and informal exchange.

Senior Class President Tiffany Harrell addressed the SGA for the last time, reiterating the senior week schedule. Senior night at O'Connor's is on Wednesday, May 14 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be food and no cover charge, so go and enjoy the night if you're 21 or older.

Thursday May 15 is the Senior Class Party, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the pavilion. Friday May 16 is the Senior Luncheon, followed by activities planned by the college on Saturday and Sunday.

Senior Senator Karen Ferguson reminded everyone of massages this weekend, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Hynson Louge. Arrive early to sign-up as the spots fill quickly.

Secretary of Student Services and Campus Properties Jonathan Bookbinder reported that Dining Hall Staff Appreciation Day went well.

He also notified the senate that plans for Hodson Hall are close to being finalized, and when it re-opens, Kent House will also re-open.

Bookbinder is also working with the new residential life director to make changes to room draw for next year, and landscaping will be completed on the Western Shore within the next 3-5 years.

President Spencer Dove announced that if students want the Café to be open next year, they should contact either him or Kathy Bands to sign a petition. So if you are worried about your coffee fix next year, get in touch with them immediately to show your support.

During a follow up interview on Wednesday night, Harrell was contacted about the planning of a Seacrets Bar Night on the same night as Senior Night at O'Connors.

Harrell hadn't yet heard of the scheduling conflict at the time, and had not planned a Seacrets bar night herself, but stated that the O'Connor's night on May 14 was the only night she was able to schedule it. Even though many seniors may either be in Ocean City or home that night, planning it another night wouldn't be possible, she added.

"Thursday is the senior class party down at the pavilion," said Harrell, so that night wasn't an option. In response to the reason it wasn't planned during exam week like in previous years, Harrell responded, "I was told by my advisor, Beth Anne Roy, that we could not have it that week. It was originally scheduled for May 3."
