The Washignton College field hockey team held its senior game against McDaniel College last Saturday. The close game went into double overtime and ended 1-0 with McDaniel on top. McDaniel had the advantage in the first half but the Shorewomen turned things around in the second.
They had an 8-6 advantage in shots and a 7-6 edge in corners, also claiming the final five shots of regulation.
In the 1st overtime the Shorewomen also held a 9-4 advantage in shots and a 7-2 margin in corners, making it hard for the Green Terror to score.
The game ended with 12:24 left in the 2nd overtime from a shot fired into the lower left corner of the cage. Goalkeeper Nicholoff made 11 saves for the Shorewomen in their loss. Players, Lewns and Wille, both made major defensive saves which contributed in the close game. Field hockey’s record fell to 6-9 overall and 3-5 in conference.
They will return to the field Wednesday October 28th with a 7:00 p.m. game at Ursinus.
