The 18th-ranked Washington College sailing team came in 12th of 20 schools at the Kings Point Dinghy Open hosted by Merchant Marine this past weekend. Leading the charge were freshman skipper Sam Bedinger and sophomore crew Mildred Conroy who placed ninth in the B Division. Bedinger and Conroy’s top single-race performance was a fourth place finish in the sixth B Division race.
Freshman skipper Amanda Anastasia and junior crew Max Kurland also contributed with a 14th place finish in the A Division.
Merchant Marine entered two squads in the regatta finishing first and third, respectively. The conditions fluctuated throughout the day on Saturday beginning at 15-20 knots out of the South and rose to over 20 knots by noon. Eight races sailed in each division Saturday, with the remaining eight in each division taking place on Sunday.
This upcoming weekend the WC sailing team is back in action competing at the War Memorial, the MAISA Fall Co-Ed Championships, and at the Top Nine Invitational.
