The members of the Washington College SIFE team would like to thank all who attended the 2009 Career Expo on Nov. 2 at the Gibson Center for the Arts. The Career Expo gave students the opportunity to fine tune their skills in business behavior and preparation.

SIFE Members, faculty members, and community volunteers engineered interactive workshops that tailored towards the problems students face when searching for a job after graduation. These workshops included resume writing, interview techniques, dressing for success, elevator speeches, and job search preparation. The workshops were informative for many WC undergraduates.

Current sophomore and WC SIFE member Liam Delap described his experience by saying, “The Career Expo gave me the opportunity to hone my skills in things like interviewing and resume writing. It offered some valuable lessons that just can’t be taught in the classroom.”

The Career Expo is instrumental in teaching students proper job preparation skills. A special thanks is due to the WC alumni, faculty, and community volunteers who made the event possible. Congratulations to sophomore Kim Pittman, the winner of the attendee drawing for the $25 bookstore gift card. Any students who attended the event should be sure to visit the WC Center for Career Development for additional guidance. Keep an eye out for the WC Career Fair in the spring, where you can put your skills to the test in front of actual employers and recruiters.
