Volleyball Ends Season With a Loss

By James Bedrock

Sports Editor

The Washington College volleyball team suffered a loss in the last match of the season against conference rival Dickinson last weekend.

Senior Caitlin Ward stood out again as she was able to come up with her fourth double-double of the season with 22 kills and 15 digs. Ward finishes her career with 3,227 kills and 700 digs.

The first game saw the Shorewomen mount a late comeback only to fall short. A combined block by senior Kelli Canada and freshman Jenny Lee brought the Shorewomen to within a point of the lead at 24, but it wasn’t enough.

After losing the second game by fifteen points, the Shorewomen had the lead in game three 24-19 but could not close out the game. Dickinson scored six straight to get the 25-24 lead. After sophomore Alyssa Forget had a kill to tie it, Dickinson responded with two straight kills to end the match.

Congratulations to seniors Caitlin Ward and Kelli Canada for their careers as Volleyball Shorewomen.
